Well I am not too sure on the lighting so I looked around and found a zoo med HO light. Is this too much and what is the difference between HO and no?

A 20glong is only 13" high. Even with co2 I think your going to be fighting algae with an HO fixture. Look here at Hoppy's chart:

I think the T5NO will give you plenty of light, without growing an algae farm. You could always buy a 2nd fixture down the road if you wanted more light and still be under the cost of most T5HO fixtures.

I've got a 20 long and pressurized CO2 with three spiral CFL bulbs in brooder lamps.

Algae city until I raise the lights or get a more reasonable lamp.

Sometimes the right light isn't the brightest light. Food for thought.

I ordered the light fixture so its going to come in a couple of days.

I read about peoples paintball co2 tanks and I want to try doing the same. Whats the difference with the paintball setup and buying a special setup? Is it cheaper?
Works better?
Did anyone have good experiences with it? Bad?
The materials?

It's cheaper short term.

I went pressurized because I didn't want to mess with refills. Also I can always use the regulator for other things.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for a ASA on/off valve for co2 tank? One that works well but not too expensive.

I'm planning on setting up a 20L also(picked it up for $2!) and I'm so glad this thread is on here cuz I was going crazy looking for the right light. Question about this fixture. Does it rest right above the tank or do you need a hood? I'm subscribed...

Edit: I think the light is on top of tank with no hood.

That's my tank, and it's been up and running since 4/10/10, so almost 18 months. I have glass canopy's on all my tanks, this fixture sits right on top of the glass. I have one 6500K bulb and one pink grow bulb on each fixture (I have three 20g longs, each one has this same fixture).

The light is designed to sit on a glass top. Buy the Aqueon Versa-Top and you will be set.

My paintball co2 setup consisted of a GLA regulator and 2 24oz paintball canisters. That way when one canister runs out of co2 you can switch out with the other. The reason you may want to own 2 is to minize co2 fluctuations. It has been my unfortunate experience that the more co2 fluctuations you have the more algae problems you will have. And sometimes it is not always at the most convenient time when your co2 runs out.

This is why I recently upgraded to a 5lb co2 tank and regulator. I won't have to refill the tanks as often as I did with the paintball canisters. And to refill a 5lb tank with co2 for me costs $10.00 which is not that much more than filling up a 24oz paintball canister.
