don't you love coming home to surprises in your tanks? a few weeks ago, it was seeing my pseudomugil signifier fry in my tank. earlier this week i found my gbr's laid eggs (and consequently ate, bad mommy and daddy!) and today? well, today i came home, looked in my chocolate shrimp tank and lo and behold, a berried female!!! yay me!! the selective breeding program can now begin!! and she is carrying a huge clutch of eggs!! the next 3 weeks or so are going to be murder waiting for the shrimplettes!!LOL

btw....at the next swap meet, i will be raok'ing a bunch of blue pearl shrimp. some are blue and some are white, like snowballs. and no i am not going to separate them...lol i should have at least 30 or so, if not more. the only catch, you gotta show up to the meet to get them :-)

my problem is i am in the same room as my tanks all the time. my fluval 305 and fx5 are the most quiet canisters i have ever owned. and while i don't mind some bubbling noise, the hangon breeder tank is loud enough for me. so i would need to try the sponge filters that jimmy and van use.

Van, on a side note, do you still have that SAE?

Bill,

Most of the vals are gone in the trash. The crypts were in really bad shape but you know if you want some, you can grab it from the 90gal tank. That tank is way overgrown now (you will see what I am talking about when you get here). You scape guys are going to think I am bad cause quite frankly, I don't do much in scaping (just not time) between jobs and family.

Yeah.. still have the SAE. Interested? It's even bigger now eating freeze dried blackworms.

If you promise to keep the SAE in the same tank as the CRS, you can have it. I am going to have a guarantee repeat customer! So you want CRS? Let me hide all the good ones first

Well you know we can work out shrimp trade....what do you have?

Deveining beef heart: It's not the smell.. just so much work just for fish food.

BTW.. give me a call when you are on your way. Make sure I am not down stair doing water changes.

let's see i have blue pearls, chocolates, rcs, and malawas. the only one's that i have enough to get rid of are the pearls. those suckers breed faster than my cherries. i have several berried malawa shrimp, but in the 55g, i never see babies. i moved one berried female to a breeding tank, so we'll see how that goes. the chocolates i have to do selective breeding on, they are just culls right now.

i wanted to post this in here. it's about one of our fellow local hobbyists. i'm posting the link to his tank journal so you can read what happened. he had a fire in his fishroom and lost everything. luckily, he, his wife and dog made it out safely. i hope when he is back on his feet and up and running, we can all band together to help clint out. i know we're not all like good friends, but i would like to think we would all help someone out in need. it's good for the hobby, and good for karma (one of the few unexplained things i believe in). thanks for reading guys and gals.
