TPT says I'm an algae grower... I'd like to think of myself as one hell of a Cabomba farmer.

MAN!!! It has been quiet on here...I am guilty of this as well....What has everybody been up to?

I'm battling some kind of bacteria or algae- it doesn't look like any of the regulare algeae's.....it started when I had sliced cucumber in my tank for the ancistrus....Things got fuzzy and grew from there....

hey guys, a friend of mine has a problem and i am racking my brains out over it. 40ppm nitrate but 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite. water changes aren't helping. it is a fully mature tank, but we can't seem to get the nitrates down. any ideas?

Are there nitrates in the supply water? Otherwise, less food and/or more plants.

Not sure about the seals, it's been dry for some time. I'm moving to NE PA area. Wish I was staying around Philly

I had this same problem. Turns out my test kit was way off and it was just making the nitrates seem higher than they actually were. If its not causing problems I honestly wouldn't worry about it. I tested my nitrates like a month ago and they were over 100. I'm positive though they're not that high. I get almost no algae and the fish are fine

Depending on where you're moving, Philly is a short drive, or a slightly longer drive down the 'pike. I've lived in NEPA for most of my life and I never saw the distance as a roadblock.
