5 Gallon Hexagon Build

Ok. So, I felt bad even thinking about putting such an active fish in a little 2 gallon.

Jayme and I went off to Petsmart and picked up a 5 gallon to put together. Got an adapter for my new 8800k LED bulb and put it together.

In the pics you'll see its a bio-wheel setup and had a compartment for one of their filter cartridges. To heck with those things. Seeded media in the compartment is a GO!

And.. Here it is, if anyone had/has interest in these tanks. (Like the budget betta build member, this tank was $40)

Enjoy.

Sorry for the yellowish photos too. I have no idea what the camera app is up too, but it thinks yellow is cool tonight.

I'm a big fan of Ember Tetras. Or those little hex's would make great scapes for shrimp too.

This was setup for my betta fish. Maybe a snail or two as well.

Yup. I've had this tank for years with different uses on and off. It's a great 5 gal for the money, and you can get CFL 6500K bulbs for it.

Currently using an 8800K LED lamp. 15w equivalent.

This tank is setup in between our computers in the room on my little file cabinet thing. I'm covering the tank at night to help him settle in. There is no heater in it, and even with the house heat turned down the temp in the tank actually went up to 83 from 78.

Pretty happy with that.

Water is still testing out great, makes me pleased using already seeded filter media. My only worry thus far is having enough load to keep the media properly seeded.

I am jealous that your betta bulbs are growing like mad and about to flower (it looks like it anyway). The one I tried to grow just got all fuzzy:/
