Pond mulm to jump start filter cycle

I was wondering if I could use the mulm from the bottom of my koi pond to jump start some box filters I am using for a patio pond on my deck. I was thinking of using a spoonful or two and mixing it with my filter floss. Anybody ever try this?

I used some mulm/water from my backyard Koi pond when I originally started one of my tanks. This tank was used to raise some fish fry from that pond but later I went back to a planted tropical tank.

You run the risk of introducing unknown bacteria's, bugs, parasites etc, I haven't and probably wouldn't do it again even though I had no issues the first time.
