Hi everybody!
I am here for about a month, but it seems I missed the introduction. I am a retired zoologist, currently live in Virginia. I like both fish and plants in the tank, but well being of the fish is most important to me. If plants grow well, this helps to maintain good water quality and the fish. Besides the aquaria, my major hobby is hunting dogs and hunting. We also have a small pond, about 15x15 feet area and about 5 feet deep in the middle, with goldfish and channel catfish. Plants are Potamogeton sp. and one species of water lily with pink flowers. Other inhabitants are natural: aquatic insects, some snakes, bullfrog, piper frog and toads in spring are coming to breed. We also have four goats and about 20 chickens ranging free.

I will tke pictures soon. Inside I have one 29 g tank and three 10 g tanks. Still looking for fish I want to buy, but I already have tiger barbs, glowlight tetras and platies. Platies gave birth to hundreds of young, which I am raising separately. Plats are Hygrophila polysperma, Cryptocorine undulata, Cryptocoryne walkeri (lutea), Java fern both narrow leaf and regular. The pond has a lot of goldfish and channel catfish. Great blue herons and American herons are coming to sparse the population, which I do not mind.
