First time using (attempting) pressurized CO2.
Hey guys n' gals, I'm just trying to get everything clear about the set up. I recently ordered a Milwaukee Ma957 and I'm thinking about getting a 7# steel tank from "beverageelements2009" on ebay (ebay links aren't allowed? How odd). For those two I should just be able to screw on the regulator to the tank (after applying some teflon tape, etc) without any other attachments, etc?
Also does the ma957 have a free rotating connector or would I have to rotate the entire thing because I'm concerned about the solenoid/bubble checker getting in the way... |

Actually, on the connector between the tank and regulator, you don't use any teflon tape. You use either a nylon seal or a brass Permaseal. See this link (offsite) for examples - http://www.greenleafaquariums.com/co2-cylinders.html
The connector should be free rotating. |

It has a nut that you twist to secure them. Very straight forward, you'll see when you set it up.
When you go to fill the tank they should include a plastic/paper washer with (o-ring). You place that between the regulator and the tank. Some regulator come with a rubber o-ring already integrated into the adapter. I believe you can still use the washer anyway since it doesnt matter. |

It is also perfectly normal to not have a rubber o ring on the reg to cylinder connector, the thread is designed that once tightened the pressure from the bottle forces the thread to create an airtight seal.
so if there is no o ring go ahead and connect it up anyway, if its a good reg no problem. If you are unsure mix some washing up liquid with water and spray it on the thread, if you have bubbles then you might need an o ring.

In the US the threads just hold the fiber or nylon washer snug between the regulator and the tank. You MUST have a washer of some sort or the connection will leak.

Alright just purchased the aforementioned tank and it comes with a permaseal. I've been getting mixed results with the permaseal + ma957 though. Some people say it doesn't fit, some do...

I don't think it is supposed to fit, not sure why though, it doesn't make sense to me.
