Can someone do a filter squeeze? Southern MD
Hey guys and gals, I am just starting up my 55 gallon at home I have had it running for about 4 days. I've been adding ammonia for a couple days, but it would be nice to get some seed material to help my (fishless) cycle.
I am in Accokeek, but am willing to meet within a 30 minute radius i.e. Clinton, Waldorf, Oxon Hill, Ft. Washignton, Alexandria, etc. I am of course open to plants too, so let me know if you've got some low-light plants and how much you want. Thnks, Jeff

I don't know if you found any yet but almost any fish store will do this for you. You can also post on your local Freecycle and ask if anyone on there will do it for you.
I'd help out but I don't think I'm close to you. It's so easy to find some one to help you seed a fresh water tank, pretty easy to find some one who can help with marine and pretty rare to find some one who can help with brackish (been through that recently). |

Thanks, I seeded it from a tank that I have at work, I just wanted to try and get it from a more established tank.
I went to a LFS and asked, they showed me their filtration system...there was no way to get a "squeeze" from it, it was all filter socks and enclosed bio-balls. The manager said he'd give me some of the balls if they weren't trapped in. He did end up giving me a big handful of gravel from one of the tanks. I offered to buy a bag to replace it and he declined. I have been a customer of theirs for about half a year and will continue to go back, customer service minded with healthy stock - can't beat that.
