My introduction into the nano tank scene - Fluval Ebi -

Fluval Ebi Pimp #20.

Finally decided to document my progress. Here are the specs when I first started up the tank back in April:

Finnex 360 canister filter

Hydor Theo 50 watt

Grapevine Wood

Anubias Barteri Congensis
Anubias Barteri Nana
Red Ludwigia
Anacharis
Java Moss
Marimo Moss Ball

3 CRS
2 Amano
1 VT Betta

I plan to also add some nerites and a few golden cloud minnows in the near future. Comments and suggestions are welcome ; P

And for your viewing pleasure

There has been some minor additions to the tank since my first post.

Thanks to TPT I got a second Fluval light for my favorite price, free 99!!! I've been lucky enough that the first light hasn't crapped out yet. So now I have two lights burning 8 hours a day.

New Flora:
water sprite
red dwarf lily
X-mas moss
fissidens fontanus carpet
flame moss

Fauna:
4 harlequin rasboras
2 gold cloud mountain minnows
2 horned nerite snails

I've also been dosing a small bit of Excel (.5 ml) but have been noticing that the anacharis are starting to melt. So looks like I am going to have to look for others plants to replace it. Or maybe I will go high tech and inject CO2.

Also, one CRS has passed. Just another unfortunate loss

Sorry for the cell phone pics. Looks like I need to save my money to get a better camera and stop spending so much on my tank ; P

Another update : )

Finally decided to inject co2. I wanted something with a small foot print so I went with a paintball set up and the Azoo single gauge regulator and JBJ style bubble counter. I am using a in-line atomizer diffuser I bought from The Shrimp Labs. Less clutter in the tank the better.

and a link to the diffuser I am using: http://theshrimplab.com/store/?p=276

I also when a little crazy and got a nice plant package courtesy of Cripino Ramos. If you need plants I highly recommend buying from him. The plants were very healthy when I received them. Here is the list of plants that I got from him and the package was only $17 shipped!!!

Rotala sp. 'Gia Lai' - 10 stems

Pogostemon stellatus 'Narrow Leaf' - 5 stems

Staurogyne repens 'Tropica 049G' - 5 stems

Poaceae sp. 'Purple Bamboo' - 3 stems

Limnophila sp. 'Vietnam Mini' - 5 stems

Limnophila sp. 'Sulawesi' - 3 stems

Myriophyllum mattogrossense - 3 stems

Arthraxon malaccense - 6 stems

Rotala sp. 'Mexicana Goias' - 5 stems

Hygrophila sp. 'Tiger' - 6 stems

Rotala sp. 'Nanjenshan' - 3 stems

Limnophila sp. Guinea 'Broad Leaf' - 3 stems

Murdannia sp. 'Red' - 3 stems

Ludwigia repens X arcuata - 6 stems

Polygonum sp. 'Porto Velho' - 3 stems

Limnophila aromatica - 5 stems

Freebie - 6 stems

Honestly, the tank is heavily planted. I would venture to say there are to many plants but oh well. I will have plenty of plants to move over to another tank when I get one ; P

Oh, also I moved the betta to a tank I have in my office. He just wasn't playing nice with the other fish. After moving him I also added 10 blue pearl shrimp and few more nerites and amano shrimp. When I get a better camera I will do my best to take some pics of them.

How did you get the second light for free?

Would I really need a light if I only care to have the plants grow slowly?

I was thinking of getting a second EBI or maybe a FLORAL.

I would use the tank as a quaratine tank, but then use the lights, substrate etc for my current EBI.

I figure 90$ online for a EBI box. The light is about 25$, food, substrate add up to nearly 30$? (I am guessing) Throw in a filter.

The tank must be like 10$?

Tank is lookin good!

How do you like the azoo regulator so far? Is it an on/off valve or does it regulate the pressure...down to 20psi let's say? Where did you buy it from? Do you need an adapter for the paintball tank?

^^ncharlie^^

If you want a second light for free you have to call Hagen and explain to them that your light is malfunctioning. They will ask you if you can exchange it to the shop you bought it from. In my case I bought it from Amazon. Since, there was not brick and mortar store to bring it back to they told me that they would ship me a new one. All I had to do was email them a copy of my receipt and my shipping address.

Read through this thread:

If you don't care how fast your plants grow then 1 light will do.

I would suggest against purchasing the Floral. Many members stated that the co2 system that comes with it is not worth the extra price tag. You might as well get another Ebi and piece together a co2 system your self. That is if you want to inject co2.

The Azoo reulator is OK. It does its job. However, I am having issues with dialing in a consistent bps. It ranges from 1 bubble every 1-4 seconds. Its not that big a deal and my drop checker is is always at a lime green color which is good. I mainly bought it cause space is a huge factor for me.

It does regulate the pressure down. There is a screw on the top of the unit that you can use to adjust the outflow pressure. Just take an allen wrench to it.

If you want to put it on a paintball tank then you will have to buy a CGA 320 adapter.

I got it at:

http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategor...sure-Regulator

You can also get it with a 2 lbs bottle for $103 and you wont have to buy a CGA 320 adapter.
