Aqueon Quiet Flow 10 HOB filter
I've got a 5 gallon hex with an enormous internal filter which is totally ruining the aesthetic of my tank. I was looking for a cost effective solution but I am finding few alternatives.
I'm not a huge fan of HOB filters but if I could remove the unsightly mass that is my internal filter I would do it. What are your thoughts on the Aqueon Quiet Flow 10 HOB filter? |

Small, quiet. I like mine. I use a green scotchbrite pad for a filter and have lucky bamboo in the box.

I hate my Quietflow 30. It really isn't powerful enough. I'm looking into replacing it with an Aquaclear. It is quiet, however.

I have one on a ten gallon and flow is not the best for that size but it is quiet and has been going for a few years now. Not bad for a cheapo one. Okay amount of room to place in different media or plants as well.

Well I would be using it in a 5 where I wouldn't want a lot of flow so maybe that is actually a plus.
Could anyone maybe add a photo from the viewing level of their tank to show me what it actually looks like? |

Just got it. The flow was a little too strong and began uprooting my HC. I took off the filter intake and stuffed it with filter floss and put some coco fiber in the water output to try to tame the current.
I hope it doesn't strain the filter too much but it was way out of control. |

Maybe some bio sponge attached to the outlet instead? Never tried it or looked at the sponge so I'm not sure really, just an idea. But I love my quiet flows. Using two on my 20gal for more circulation. I've never used a cannister filter before so I prob just don't know what I'm missing out on haha
