you should think about getting some rams in, preferably blue rams. maybe not on your very next import, but the one after that maybe. so that once they are done acclimating, my tanks will be established and ready for them!
ps. do any snails you know of like green spot algae? what type is most efficient? |

I will look into the requests, one thing I have to consider when making my decisions is my tank space (in reference to pikes, even "dwarf", as well as plecos) and how many I think I can reasonably sell as I generally get things in in groups of 400-800, sometimes more

Those numbers have to be tough to turn in a timely fashion. It's like those beautiful Gold Laser Cories you still have, I can't believe they're not gone yet. Do you service any LFS? You could be a great source for stores stuck in the cycle of the same 40 species all the time. We have a guy here in SoCal that brings in the odd stuff for the stores brave enough to carry them but don't want to commit to those numbers.

If you are getting Pikes in groups of 800, you'd be the first... There are prob around 2000 of them in the country. |

I do supply a few stores across the country, problem is my location
Right now, wiht the lag of import, I think i have about 12 tanks available for new species, which is 3 boxes of fish. Should work out! |

As to the pikes, its doubtful. The biggest problem with really specialty items like that is I deal with import, not wholesale. Often those sorts of fish come in mislabeled, and almost always the wrong ID, then I am stuck with a pike that gets HUGE.
I WILL ask, but its doubtful on those despite how fascinated I am by them. |

I hear that. I've imported corals. You order a a few boxes of acropora and get a mix of those along with some Sarcophyton sp (leather coral) since they didn't have what you wanted and needed to fill the box. lol

Tanichthys micagemmae (Vietnamese Whiteclouds) would be nice, as someone suggested a while back; and I'm ever so sweet on Danio tinwini and those Yunannilus cruciatus.....
My new tank is just about done cycling but wouldn't you know it, I'm leaving on a trip to Asia and won't be back until Independence day; lousy time of year to ship!!! Do you have good success with cool-packs when you ship?

I do have good luck with cool packs as long as express service is used. Issue with them is they don't usually last more than 18 or so hours and they add a lot of weight to the box. I bought MAHOOSIVE ones that last quite awhile, but add nearly a pound to the shipping weight. In general, if express is used, fish seem to do really well in a well insulated box with extra packing materials.
And danio tinwini are awesome! I had them in last year and they didn't sell well at all, which shocked me as htey are an amazing little fish. I would be willing to try them again. Will definitely get more dario species, definitely chillis, I am currently breeding longfinned white clouds but would absolutely be interested in getting the vietnamese as well. Great ideas folks! I am out of town until Sunday, but will certainly be checking in to see what else people suggested! I get my lists on Mondays and order on Wednesday. I am stoked! |
