Fisrt Timer 29g
This is my first time trying planted tank I still new to the whole fish hobby in general. I found a 29g for 30 bucks so figured thats a good start.
Tank: 29g Light: Aquasun t5 HO 30" (I figured I get more now then have to replace later) Filter: Aquaclear 70 Substrate: Caribsea Black Sand with normal black Substrate out the outer edges CO2: hagen co2 with DIY mix the stuff that comes with it kinda sucks Ferts: I put Flourish Tabs and use Flourish Comprehensive (I'm trying to figure the dry ferts before I buy it) As for landscape theme and all that fancy stuff I still am not good at lol. I just want the plants to survive and then rescape later on once I get more of the basics down, I would hate to spend money on plants I will kill 3 weeks later. |

Check out El Natural style. Will save you money on the substrate. I used Scott's top soil. Some use Miracle gro organic. Any top soil without manure chemicals can work. tuffgong used potting soil from Dollar store.
Hyzer has a T5HO over his tank and doesn't inject Co2. He keep algae at bay by raising the light. Last edited by Hilde; 05-14-2011 at 05:27 PM.. |

Just a recommendation, you should try to switch to pressurized co2 soon unless your are really good about replacing the DIY, that T5HO will turn (and keep) your tank a green mess in no time.
Good luck! PS: I have a 29 gallon myself (as you can see below this post) and you can ask me any questions concerning the tank itself or getting it going
