I can't even imagine what the ammonia levels are like in that tank. He should just list "Goldfish to good home with pond" and forget about making a profit! Sad thing to see, but that's what happens when people buy on a whim, are misinformed or not informed at all, and aren't putting the animals best interest ahead of their own!

There's an LFS near me that keeps fish worse than this in some of their tanks. Now don't get me wrong, it actually turns out this is a premier LFS with amazing selection and quality. But I guess over the years people have given them large fish that they aren't able to care for, and the LFS is sort of stuck with them because nobody will buy them either. They have some of the hugest fish I've ever seen in some startlingly small tanks. They also have some very large tanks with like a dozen HUGE fish like Arowanas and different types of Piranhas. I actually saw a fish there once, some sort of Piranha-looking fish, that was in a tank that it couldn't physically turn around in. Yikes.

If the average person saw the common plecos that they have, they'd never buy that cute 2" catfish in the first place Seriously, they have plecos that could take your hand!

So he spent $200 on the fish, $100 on the clown puke, and $100 for tank. That looks like a $400 setup to me don't you think? LOL!!!!

He wasn't taken for $400. He said this: "Asking $200 ( entire tank worth more than $400)"

He appraises the value at $400, and is asking $200, which means he is expecting less. It's routine to inflate values on CL because few are willing to pay anything approaching the asking price.
