Christmas Moss

So I bought some christmas moss off ebay and when it got to me there was barely any green left. I threw it into my main aquarium tied to a rock hoping it would rebound but so far it's been very slow. It's gone from about 10% green to about 19% green and it's been about two months. How do I get this stuff to grow faster? I leave the lights on 10 hours a day and dose liquid ferts biweekly. I was thinking about moving it to a separate aquarium and keeping the lights on it 24/7 dosing ferts every two days. Would that work?

No. Bascially, the moss was mostly dead and it's taking a while to start growing again. Given time, it will grow fuller (though each strand won't grow any more quickly). Plants need a photoperiod and a downtime to stay healthy. What you can do is increase your lighting, (which most of us have discovered is not as high as we think it is) along with your ferts and carbon source. What you can do instead of increasing your lighting is trim all the healthy stands, tie them on to something else, and in a couple weeks you'll have twice the number of strands growing at the original rate.

But, just to check, what kind of lighting do you have, and how high is it above the substrate?

Just one of these: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...=Fish+Lighting

It's sitting on the rim.

I see healthy strands falling off of it, I'll probably harvest them and tie them to another rock.

I bought christmass moss from Hong Kong and I didn't like it at all.. I paid same price to a hobbyist here and bought a nice chunk of Tropica Christmas Moss.. The two doesn't even look like each other..

I bought Flame moss, taiwan moss and christmass moss from ebay and the christmas was the worse one. I don't know how they raise those. When it arrived it was %90 brown, so I got a refund of the christmass and just throw it away..
