Space Above Tanks?
If you build a tank rack, how much space should there be above the tops of the tanks to give enough room for lights and fiddling with the tank?

Thats a good question, how big and how DEEP will the tanks be? I personally like to get my head in there.

Probably enough to comfortably be able to reach for things on the bottom of the tank with various materials such as your hand, net, tweezer, etc, without doing some contortionist tricks. All that while being able to see what you're doing in the tank.

Make sure you have enough space for a bucket if you plan to pour water directly from it during water change.

As long as you can get a syphon started and a container w/ fish in and out, you're good. I found out the hard way when I couldn't get my syphon started.

I'm having a rack built this week and I left 6 inches between the tank to and the next shelf. Hopefully it will be plenty.

It will vary tank to tank using the lights I already have. I'm not really setting up a whole new rack just combining the tanks I have although there will be two new ones
