Locally available snail eaters?
I recently set up a planted tank (first time) and saw to my dismay - snails! I usually rinse the plants off but I guess I didn't do a good enough job. I'm going on vacation so I really didn't want to add any fish until I come back. Anyway, can anyone suggest what I can get locally to get rid of the snails? I've read some of the threads on this forum regarding solutions to getting rid of the snails e.g., nerite snails but are they available in Hawaii?
Mahaloz for any suggestions! |

Mahaloz for the offer. Right now the snails are doing a good job on the bba on my driftwood so I'll wait and see. I'll take you up on the offer if the snails become a problem.

Unless you consider a tank overridden with snails not a problem I guess you won't be taking on his offer. I would seriously consider wiping out the snails now. Otherwise they get everywhere and once they are in your filter they can live in their forever (mainly canisters but I've had it happen is hob's) after their in there they can mess up your impellor simply by being caught it in >_<
You can also easily buy some ottos or sae to take care of your algae. So you don't have to rely on snails |

Thanks for the heads up on the snails. I have a Fluval U3 so I'll be checking it out asap. When I come back from my vacation, I'm planning on getting some loaches to take care of the snails. Right now, the only fish I have are 3 ottos in my tall 29.
