Majstor`s tub pond
Ok, this is second season of mine tub pond with siporex walls , on terrace above garage.
It overwintered fine but i had to do some work before filling up Some paint was in order ... and plumbing work From last year i had some cane In tub i put a layer of heavy loam from basement and on top of it gravel to try to have a clear water. Of plants i put mentioned cane and dug up some water iris on friend`s uncle pond. And had some water lily too from last year It should flower soon Ive got first visitors too So, i was browsing a store one day and found this Sometime later friend sent me some water solider and some other plant , i think its from Nuphar family, close to water lily |

Cool idea. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Do you plan on putting any fish in there.

This is situation in tub how it looks now... Im really satisfied... Water is a bit more muddy than usual because i was doing some rearagments. That bit of red are three gold fishes, i cant have more because they will have to overwinter in aquarium. But i have youngsters also.

I think this is a great idea. It a great way to recycle that used tub from some remodeling project instead of sending it to a land fill.
However … It would be great if you could cover the concrete look with some cultured stone veneer and then stack some other stones around that so it does seems so ... obtuse. Here a link to a sample of what I mean … http://www.culturedstone.com/product...eam-stone.aspx Hope this helps. It really great though. Best wishes, Wes

Actually I ws thinking more like large stone boulders bigger than one's head.
The cultered stones are actually colored concrete made to resemble the stones the size of one's head only they are half the weight and split so that they have a flat side to them. Best wishes, Wes

Tub is old and made of 1/3 inch of cast iron, so i dont expect cracks, but checking regulary. Its not really so cold here in Croatia (as image of ice would suggest) but these external ponds freeze much more that dug-in ones and they need much more time to unfreeze. In dug-in ones a earth is keeping it warm. But all that ice is almost melted since temperatures are now at average about 40F |
