So is SunSun REALLY worth it!? Show me your opinions! :)

I'm VERY 99% considering getting the SunSun Canister filter (60 gal one) off eBay in the near future! I LOVE canisters and the concept of how crisp and clean they are. I have a 305 Fluval with a AquaClear 50 gal on my 60 gallon fish tank. I did have a Rena XP2 on my 47 gallon, but it broke so I got the Marineland HOB for like a 90 gallon on it.

SO! What is y'alls ratings on the SunSun? I love the idea of how CHEAP it is and from some posts the responses are good enough for me! And I don't mind that its almost less than $50!

Noisy isn't a problem with my canisters and they work fine. But the SunSun is going on my soon 46 gallon planted tank to replace my 10 gallon.

Look at the size of this canister for $100

I have 4 liters of matrix and 4 filter pads in there, plus they are quiet. how can you go wrong?

Holy crap that thing is a beast. Anyone have any photos of the 302 small one in relation to something I'd recognize the size of?

That all depends on what you would recognize the size of. I could take a pic of mine next to my 20oz paintball tank if that would help, but I don't know if you could relate to that object. I could also measure it's size if that would help.

To the OP, my SunSun has been nothing but quiet, and great for months since I bought it.

I've had my SunSun for maybe 5 months, and am quite happy with it. Here's a thought - I'm on here a lot, and while I have heard a number of people say unkind things about "cheap" filters like the SunSuns, I regularly see complaints about leaky Fluvals or Eheims ...but I can't remember seeing any about the SunSuns. Now I'm sure people have had some problems with them (cheap basket handles, for example), and since they haven't been around all that long, who's to say whether they'll stand the test of time?

Anyway, don't take my word for it. Read through the review - the whole thing - and do a search for SunSun or Perfect in the forum. I recommend the 302 model for maybe up to a 40g tank.

OK, here ya go. I threw some other stuff in there for size reference too. I figured between a paintball tank, a bottle of Flourish, and a 1 Gallon water jug anyone should be able to reference the size. Sorry I can't get a better pic, but it's sorta confined to being under the stand. But as you can see, it's really not that much bigger than the water jug. A little bigger around, and a little taller. The dimensions are roughly 15 inches tall and 10 inches wide if that helps too.

I'm approaching a year in the next month or two of SunSun ownership and it's definitely one of the better purchases I have made for my tanks. I will definitely buy a sunsun again!

Now, if we could only get a distributor up here in Canada so that the shipping costs from say, California, don't end up being almost the same price as the darn filter....

Or Worse, border issues....

I have almost the exact same set up as you with my sunsun and my atomizer for my 29 gallon tank. However my inline atomizer is facing the other direction (not sure if that matters or not).

I love my sunsun. It's silent and hard working.

+2! My setup almost exactly ^^

I LOVE my sunsun 302. One of the best purchases i've made on my tank. I'm even about to upgrade it to the 404b so i can use the 302 on my new tank.

I hope the direction doesn't matter. It would be a pain in the butt if I needed to take it out. I never noticed any markings for flow direction, so I just stuck it in there.
