Didn't see a thread about this, but if you're in the Cincinnati area, you can check out the Greater Cincinnati Aquarium society:

We have meetings once a month (generally, you can check the calendar) with a guest speaker who talks about something. Fish-related most of the time, but plant speakers have popped up from time to time.

There's a couple of loyal plant people lurking around too (somewhere!).
