Foreground options and light? Glosso?

Another aquascaping question --

I have a 96w bright kit from AH Supply over my 50g. Pressurized C02. 100@ Flourite and ferts.

Any chance of glosso being an option for the foreground bed? AH Supply kits, with their reflector, are quite powerful. I currently have some dwarf sag and was considering some pigmy chain sword perhaps, too.

Anyone know anything about the requirement and success of Elatine Triandra as seen on this page:

thanks!

You are about 2WPG, right?

I personally think your lighting may be a little low for a tight to the ground, bed of Glosso. It may grow up wards for you, but I am not to sure about a low foreground.

I think at that light level, marselia might do better than glosso.

The problem with Elatine Triandra as foreground for me is, it keeps piling up like Hemianthus micanthemoides(pearlweed). Personally I would use it more like midground rather than foreground. It is pretty easy for me with 3wpg, CO2.

My dwarf sag has grown like a rabid weed under only 2wpg-- there is a really short variety in my tank as well. Look around for it, unfortunately I don't have enough to part with it right now.

edit-- nvm, you already have dwarf sag.

hi gang

yes, I do have some of the dwarf sag now. it's a month old now and a little dormant in terms of growth (as mentioned in another thread), but I'll give it some time. It's starting to grow new leaves, so it's probably just a matter of time before it spreads. As to how tall it gets, I'll just have to see. My hope is that it will stay short. My LFS had a really nice carpet of what I thought was dwarf sag in one of their tanks (they sell it as "dwarf grass", but the blades are as thick as dwarf sag). The stuff covered the ground so dense and green and all of it was no more than an inch in height tops. Almost a lime green, not dark -- but could have been the light. Once they prune some, I'm gonna buy me some of it and plant it along with my current dwarf sag and see what it does.

I didn't know there were different varities of dwarf sag (if indeed there are?) -- I always just thought there was one variety and that height of the plant is affected by light, water chemistry of one's tank ,etc.

I'll hold on glosso until I have some more practice. I can always add another AH Supply 55w or 96w kit to my exisiting 96w kit in the future.

I'm not sure-- a friend gave me two different plants that he said were sag. One stays only 1.5in tall, the other 3-4 inches. They have stayed at these heights even as the taller spread through my mid ground, and the shorter through the foreground in the same tank.
