DIY Tank ~60 gallons/4 tanks

Hi there,

I've built a few aquarium stands over the last year, and now I'm thinking about building a third one soon. What I'd like to do is have something similar to 4 15G tanks placed side by side like this UUUU - to give a dimension around 48" long, 24" deep, and 12" tall. I'd then build the stand to fit the final dimensions.

However, I've been reading about how it isn't very hard to build an aquarium from glass and I'd love to try it. My only question that I'd appreciate some help with currently is if I should make 4 separate tanks, or if I should make one large tank and just insert 3 glass dividers into it.

Viewing it from the front I'm worried about how it will look from an angle if you have to look through 2 panes of glass with some air in between. I put a rough picture below.

Any comments about the general setup or feasibility of having it be 4 distinct tanks vs one tank with dividers would be appreciated. Any comments from anyone who has built a tank before might also be helpful. I found a few very helpful links and it didn't seem like it would be much of a challenge, and I really enjoy DIY projects. I'm very much in the planning stages now, so I don't have exact dimensions for anything yet and it's all subject to change. The only real requirements I have are that I'd like to have multiple separate tanks to keep inhabitants separate, and I'd like to have them be large enough to keep conditions stable, but small enough that it's not a really huge deal.

When you place tanks side by side like that you will inevitably get water stains between them.

Thanks Freshfins. So that's a recommendation to have it be one tank with dividers? That was what I leaning towards doing.
