Solenoid valve for paintball co2

Hi, I'm running a co2 paintball setup and wanted to know if I could use this solenoid with it.

http://www.aquabuys.com/p/mi_ma955.html

I plan to hook it on after the needle valve(home depot watt A-41). It should be able to handle 800psi right?

Anyone have experience with this solenoid or recommend a cheaper/better solution?

Brand new to the topic so take what I say with a grain of salt.

You would have to put it between the tank and needle valve or I would think you will end up dumping in 800psi into the tank when it opens. Further as the solenoid appears to only have connections for plastic tube, the tube would then be subject to 800psi. Which I think would be bad.

Maybe you can unscrew the connectors and put on brass tubing instead of plastic. But I am not sure.

You could try, but I would think that once you turned it off it would build up pressure between itself and the needle valve and would probably either blow off at one of the ends or rupture the tube itself.
My (limited) logic thinks that without flow the tube would eventually equalize with what is inside the tank (800+ Psi) and something has to give, since most of us are bubbling at 1-3bps it would take a few hours to completely fill the tube to this point so you could end up being woken up by a loud bang.
I'm no scientist though, only an engineer, so it's something you might have to try to find out.

FYI- I too am running a paintball setup and my tank is at 1000psi sio I went out and bought a small drinks co2 regulator and fitted a solenoid valve at a much lower pressure of 25psi

how does the ADA solenoid work?

would it not be the same thing for what im trying to do?

Their solenoid is connected after the needle valve so wouldnt 800+psi get build up in the solenoid?

I ended up using a industrial one that gets screwed into the regulator just before the needle valve.
So it pretty much looks just like a co2 setup that you would buy for a larger tank now.
The only problem i have is that it's too top heavy and needs to be supported to stand upright under my tank due to the reg and solenoid being off to the side

If you are running a regulator then that valve will work fine, without a reg and even high end valves won't help you, mine's rated at 400psi and that is as big as I could find which was still nowhere high enough to work.
In my case the pressure built up and jammed the valve closed, which meant a disassembly under full tank pressure (which was pretty fun... Not)

You will need a regulator to reduce the pressure from the paintball canister before it reaches the solenoid.

There is but they are way too big, at half the size of a 20oz paintball cylinder size and a cost of $1000nzd or $850usd it's just not worth trying to find one.
There's alot of pressure in a paintball tank that's constantly trying to get out, enough gas to fill an average bedroom and when you think of it that way you can see why it's so hard to find a reasonably priced valve that will do what you ask

I use a standard regulator on my paintball tank with an adaptor piece from Rebel Brewer.

Another option:

I've been thinking about picking one of these up...not sure if anybody else here has any experience with it, but it has your regulator and solenoid covered.

Perhaps it's one of those "you get what you pay for" deals...but I'd probably trust that more than what I have running now. Not being able to properly regulate the 800psi from the tank has definitely been a concern.
