Nalu's 75 Gallon

To start, great job with this awesome forum (think I'm addicted to this forum) Spent to many hours reading about all the other tanks and issues, I love to learn everything about Planted Aquarium. Started with my first tank when I was 8-10 or so with some guppy's, then bought a bowfront 100l or so for African cichlids, started with my first planted tank when I was 16, but did not know a thing about it. When I moved to the USA, I started reading about planted tanks on this forum.

I was planning to redo my 55g (http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/my...00-nalu86.html) with MTS, Started making some begin december, but with the snow and a lot of snow, it never dried.
For my b-day, my wife decided to buy me a 75g, so we got one and after cleaning the 75g, I broke down the 55g and made my badtub into a swamp with my odyssea cfs running on the tub, putted my fishies in a 10 gallon with a fluval 305 on in.
After the tank was in place, filed it 1/3 with water and putted the Cfs500 on the 75, I just putted all my plants in there, waiting for the MTS to be ready.
I could not wait any longer so I washed the soil again, and putted it in the bad tub with a fan on it and the heater on 110F, smells nice and swampy
The MTS is almost dry again for the official second time and my Potasium chloride should be here tomorrow so i'm going to start with the whole adventure. Looking really forward to this, I love to set up tanks and did 8 tanks in the last 8 months

Here is the setup:

75Gallon Aquarium 48"-18"-21"
Odyssea T5HO 4x 54w (will run 2-3 bulbs)
CFS 500
Fluval 305
Marineland heater
Paintball CO2

Flora:
I have some plants but I'm not sure if I will use all of them.

Amazon Sword (Echinodorus amazonicus)
Anubias
Banana Plant (Nymphoides aquatica)
Cryptocorynes
Java moss.

Help me choosing some stem plants.
I was thinking about:

dwarf baby tears
dwarf hairgras
Ludwiga cuba
Ludwiga ovalis

give me some more options please.

Founa:
I have:
8 neon tetra
1 female ram (and 16 fry <1inch that I will use some from)
1 bronze cory

I want:
8 neon tetra
15 celestial pearl danio (if they go together with the other fish)
5 angels
10 cory's (panda and albino)
6 otto's
and ghost shrimp as life food living in the tank together.

If you have angels in your tank with CPD's they'll probably be eaten by the angels... eventually.

Thats what i thought... What size is the smallest fish I can put with Angels?

On monday my mts was ready and decided to make put in the soil and gravel.



I used crushed corals in stead of dolomite. I didn't receive my Potasium Chloride yet, but I will dose a little bit each week, an idea how much I have to dose? I also dose a little bit florish.

Tank is a work in progress and this was my first attempt to a MTS NPT.
Next month this tank will be moved to my new house and will set up with MTS and dry start method.

haha what is it about cats and aquariums? Nice capture on the setup and thats the first time I've seen that much dirt in a tub LOL.

yeah, my cat is crazy about aquariums and water, she even swims in the tank... She always jumps from the sofa or a coffe table on the tank, but now I moved them farther away, making it not possible to jump on the tank again, now she found another way to get on the tank. The tank cabinet has drowers, she goes behind the cabinet and opens the drawers, that way she climbs up.... dimd smart cat...

If you make MTS in the middel of the winter, you have to find a way to dry it, right lol

Couple of days ago I setted up a 40g breeder with mts, i think i overdid, I have like a 3 inch layer dirt and 2 inch cap of black diamond sand. wll see how it works out.

Just bought a new kitchen today, can start setting it up in the new house and after that, time for the wood floors. After that moving tank... I'm already dreaming about how I will scape and plumb my filters from the living room to the garage... oooh love it

1 Year later, this tank is still sitting dry...
Well hopefully next week it becomes a nice piece on my breeding shelve
