Confused on R. heteromorpha

Hey all. Well as told in my sig. I have 36 R. heteromorpha in my 55 gallon. I was reading about them trying to figure this out, everwhere i've seen, they said R. heteromorpha was a red color. Now about half of mine are red, but the other half of the fish are a gold color? Do I have like a subspecies, or just a different color var.? Or are all the websites just not completely corect? Its not something that seriously concerns me, I was just wondering. Anyways thanks

They are different color morphs of the same fish I think. Check them out on LiveAquaria.com.

I've never seen a red (like in a Cardinal tetra's stripe) Harlequin, but when they're happy they should turn a deep coppery-orange color. When I see gold ones it's usually when they're stressed out in the LFS tank

I had some of these Rasboras for a few years and then a little more recently, added to the group. The new ones looked more of an orange/gold and the old ones looked more purple/pink. Eventually, the new ones took on the purple/pink coloration, though. It could be the diet. Once the orange/gold ones started eating the same food as the purple/pink ones, they eventually took on the same coloration.

Hmm, well i've noticed the gold ones are smaller. I've had these guys for about 3 months. I bet the gold little ones will look like the bigger purple ones when they get older, thanks Sam!
