15G - does this qualify as nano?
I just set it up a few days ago - ive been keeping discus solely without my much loved planted tank.. so i caved in and got a spare 15 going.. i've got 120 watts of PC 10k over the tank right now, an eheim aquaball and some cheapo hob filter that i had lying around. eco complete for a substrate and DIY CO2 as soon as i get around to mixing it back up. im not sure what the main plant ive got in there is, i bought it in houston and it grows like wildfire.. the stuff is amazing. sometimes itll grow like a carpet sometimes it grows all over the place. i had some microswords that had been floating in a tub outside my house for a few months, i cleaned the algae off of em and stuck them in there too.
8WPG, think itll work? or am i going waay overboard lol |

Well with that much lighting, I think presserized CO2 and daily dosing of ferts is what you need! haha....that is alot of lights for a tank like that.....how tall is it anyways? sounds like a better reef tank then a planted tank, simply because of the lighting issue lol

ive got the stuff to make it reef but i told my wife that i'd let her run a planted tank this time.. so oh well haha
ive got over 120 pounds of manmade rock i bought from www.garf.org.. paid $5 a pound for the stuff and then had to pay shipping! it was killer.. if you know anyone who wants it ill part with it for $3 a pound.. obo i just ordered some ferts from gregwatson.. and i am gonna hope that the DIY CO2 can keep up, lol |

You will prob have better luck turning on of those pc bulbs off if you can. I would just use the powerhead to move water and not worry about the HOB. Just my two cents.

im running my co2 into the hob and using it for mechanical filtration.

Unless you're dosing on a daily basis, you'll end up w/some sort of algae or another w/that much lighting. Also make sure that your CO2 levels are on par w/the nutrients and lighting.

Using measured KH and pH values, you can find the CO2 concentration according to this:
http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_co2chart.htm Read Chuck's site for more clarification. Great source of info there. |

Same page there. Read that page and there's a way of calculating it and if you scroll down a bit, there's even a chart...
