I know the two stores within 15 miles of me that aren't chain stores absolutely suck. Horrible customer service, filthy tanks, and outrageous prices.

I asked one store owner if he could order me some fish (I know he orders from the wholesaler in Cleveland). He said, and I quote, "I hand pick all my fish and don't do stupid special orders. Buy what I have or don't buy anything."

Needless to say, I've never been back to that place. Smelled like body odor anyways...

Why do people act like this??? There is a pet store in Mt Vernon that has special ordered fish for me but kind of get a sense they don't like to but do it for the business. In fact, I had them special order some yoyo loaches because they never had them and the lady bought extra to sell and now they try to keep them on a regular basis because they sell.

It does drive me crazy though when I walk in to see what they have and a bunch of fish have Ick or there are dead fish in the tank. They could at least put a sign on the tank that they are treating for Ick or go through and keep the tanks cleaned up of dead fish.

If the economy was better and the hobby was more popular around central Ohio, I would love to open a small fish store with live plants and supplies at a reasonable price.

something fishy is amazing!!!! i got a few shell dwellers and tetras from them and have always been impressed with them! rms is good to and hutch pet shop in kent. i would love to open a small shop that specialized in plants and plant friendly fish and more of the odd ball things you dont see anywhere else. i think it could work considering one of the busy pet stores just got shut down because of back taxes. lol i hated that place anyway. pet junction if anyone knows of them!

Rms aquaculture is probably the best store you can find in Cleveland. They have some shrimps and plants that you cannot find elsewhere. Something Fishy is pretty cool too. They are specialized in cichilds.

They had Crs rcs posting noise shrimp blue shrimp and one other kind but I can't remember now

Haha, I got 2 crs from there, but one died unfortunately from all the travel. The other one looks fine! I might get some more in the near future, either from them or from a buddy in NYC (don't ask me who, hehe..)

Jeez justin quite the hook ups! I have been pretty impressed with our local pet supplies plus chains. Plants are great and they are getting different kind of fish

Hey, I should have mentioned those pet supplies plus stores too. They do get some cool plants once in a while. I got my first HC and LB (microsword) there. They had some dwarf hairgrass too. And THE most important thing, their dry goods and frozen foods are the cheapest in town.
