125g pond with river and waterfall...DIY project
Hi everybody
I started this project some month ago but didn't get the time to concentrate on it cause my house was in construction at the same time. The house is almost completed and i'll be able to put some of my time in this project. It will be base on a natural concept with no filtration...plants will do this part....The only equipement will be a water pump which will carry the water up and gravity will help it down... There will be 4 differents parts : PART 1 : waterfall and may be a small pond...not yet decided... PART 2 : A river!!! PART 3 : A waterfall (2 metre high) will many plants. PART 4 : A 125 gal pond (actual hosts : 3 tilapias and 1 big pleco - about 10 inches)PARTs 1 and 2 : PARTs 3 AND 4 : A close view of the waterfall (sorry for the pic quality, will try some better close pics nect time) A large view of my terasse : (with no rocks on the main water fall) Last edited by Pri; 12-14-2010 at 06:49 PM.. |

This looks like a very cool project! I think you will need the small pond area or the Tilapia wont have an area to rest. But very neat idea! Looking forward to updates.

Thank you Solid,
The Tilapia are already in a pond - have a look at the photo for PARTs 3 and 4. In fact the small pond will be at the beginning of the chain if ever i go for it : Water will arrive from the larger pond at the bottom to the smaller one upstairs and there will be an overflow to the river...what do you think about it? |

Hi,
Here are some new pics. The project is going on quite well and nowadays i'm doing the small waterfall... A full view of the whole project : Pond - Waterfall - River - Smaller waterfall (construction going on!!!) Pond Set Up. Emptied the pond last week do do some cleaning after completion of the major cement works. River with many rocks lying around - tring to sort them to build a cool waterfall. I would prefer to have more flat rocks, but can't find enough of those. An inhabitant of the pond. it just jumped of the net when I took it off for cleaning. Can someone Identify it?? We just call those fish common Tilapias Thanks for viewing. It looks lovely. I like how you have it on the upper level, and the waterfall down to the lower level. The plants are lovely.

Unfortunately this projet stopped since Xmas...got visitors at home and don't have enough time to keep it going. Will be working on it by end January : not much work left : need to finish the small waterfall and do some painting and rock scaping in the river...then switch on the pump and have cocktail on my terrace with the sound of flowing and falling water...
