103 gallon tank *RESCAPE*

Hi Everyone,

This is what my tank used to look like, I had playsand as a substrate with various cichlids and barely any plants , Got tired so I did some research and decided that it was time for an overhall.

Attached is a before pic, then after and a few fish shots

Stocking list -
11 red eye tetras ( going to get rid of, they bite my hygro )
11 rummynose tetras
5 bosemani rainbows
2 long fin angelfish
11 various danios ( going to get rid of )
10 or so Peppered corydoras
5 khuli loaches
1 albino ancistrus
1 rainbow shark
8 platys
2 Kribensis
7 Otos
7 Hillstream loaches

I think thats it

Can you guys please also help me identify a few plants that are attached

Tank is going to be low-medium tech.

I am pretty new to planted tanks, so dont be too judgemental on my "scape" and Im in South Africa so its kinda hard to find things here.

New specs -
Tank dimensions - 59 " x 21 " x 21 " ( tank was custom made )
Lighting - 2 x T8 21w LED's ( T8 only referring to diamter, not normal flourescents etc. Dont know what equivalent they are to T5s )
Subtrate - 1st layer; Vermiculite, dolomite, potassium chloride( sprinkled like in MTS ), 2nd layer - Partly mineralized garden soil, 3rd layer - Pool filter sand ( cap )
Filtration - Sump, Lava rocks, purigen, bio balls etc. ( 2500 lph pump )
Co2 - None yet, Might go DIY.
Ferts - High fish bioload

Oh and please excuse the blue silicon, had some bad ich experiences, any ideas how to change it back to normal?

Please be gentle on me! just a 15 year old you know

Oh and any advice comments Welcome! really want this to be a good thread

Oh and I set up the tank about a week ago, just adjusted things a bit now thats why the water is cloudy, will post all the fish and plant pics tomorrow, School tomorrow

Oh and heres a list of what I think the plant list might be ( correct me, excuse sp aswell )
Vallisernia Gigantea
Vallisernia
Vallisernia Spiralis
Cardamine Lyrata
Amazon Sword ( dont know type )
Amazon Sword ( dont know type either, but its different )
Anubias Barteri

I thought i was lucky to have my 150g about 4 feet away from my bed... but yours is literally next to your bed! Lucky!

Looks great- and i agree, the stand is awesome. I'm 15 also (almost 16).

Tank looks awesome. I am also in the process of turning a 55 gallon cichlid tank in to a planted one. I'm turning 16 in June

Only one suggestion: You might want to opaque the back of your tank so the wall vent/thermostat behind it isn't seen through it. Aside from that, it's very inspiring.

The crypts will be easier to identify once they get bigger and show more telling leaves. I'm guessing they're wendtii green, but I could easily be wrong.

@ VadimShevchuk

The cichlids constant biting and harassing really stressed me out. Is it the same for you?

@ Aquamom there is non vent behind the tank, theres just a bedside lamp that rests on it And the black background is spray painted on.

@ Sharkfood Thanks, but since I bought them they have been putting out dark green, reddish leaves, in the petshop they were green?

I'm wondering what that rectangular whitish boxy thing is that I see in the third picture down from the top (the one just below the empty tank), that appears through the back of it? Is that a component of your filtration system? To me, it looked like a wall vent or thermostat. Since the back of your tank is spray-painted, that must be part of your tank system. Just curious as to what exactly that is ...

Your plants are beautiful. It's a lovely, lovely, tank.
