Trimming riccia?

I Finally got my co2 levels up in my 20 long, i have a huge patch of riccia tied to some drift wood, and its growing like mad, how do i trim this without making a mess in the tank? Do you remove the driftwood and let the riccia hang and then cut it away?

I dont think there is really a way to trim riccia without making a mess. What I do when I trim mine is let it float to the top, then my power filter pushes it around the tank until it clumps together. I let the clump sit under the light until it grows together good, then I tie it to a rock and put it back on the bottom in an empty space and it starts all over again.

Riccia is a real mess maker!

You can try taking out the wood and trimming, or you can trim it in the aquarium and skim out the trimmings when you are done. I do the skim thing. It takes me almost 45 minutes sometimes .

Take a good look at the Riccia tied to the wood. There is going to be a point where trimming isn't going to do it, you will have to retie it.
