OhNo123's Mr.Aqua 17g UPDATE 11/14

Just took a picture of my tank in it's current state. I got some more plants that include: Dwarf Lily, Red Tiger Lotus, Myriophyllum Tuberculatum to try out, HC, Ludwigia Cuba stems to try out, and Crypt Undulata.

The floating moss balls have begun to grow as you can see.

Also swapped out my two previous bulbs, freshwater and 10K (Don't know why this was in there), for two 6700K bulbs. 1 hour after i switched the bulbs, the plants began releasing air bulbs from photosynthesis.

Fauna I've added: 8 glowlight tetras, 4 tiger endlers.
I plan on removing the glowlight tetras and getting a group of 4 or 5 betta simplex.

And on a side note, I went to my LFS and bought a marimo moss ball that was larger than a softball and stuck it into my shrimp tank. It's such a simple plant.

You did a really good job of planting around the hardscape. I'm sure the tank will look excellent once it grows in.

That mossball didn't happen to come from the Tropiquarium, did it? You can sell softball+ size ones on aquabid for at least $15.

Thanks for the comment. Some parts of the glass is still hazy because I had brown algae (diatoms?) all over my tank. I took this picture after i scraped it off. I think the algae infestion had to do with the bulbs I was using.

Yes, it did come from Tropiquarium, how did you know?
Total was only $10.69 too.

I've seen moss balls on aquabid go for 15+, but I would rather keep it than make the extra $5 or $10 profit. Gas itself costs about half of that.

Oh right! I totally forgot you were from around here and you moved away. My badd.

I kind of want to get another one of those balls just because they're so amazing, but then they take up so much space...

I bought mine in Taiwan, but you can get some off adana-usa.com for $3.99/lb.

came home from school today and found that my female tiger endler gave birth in the tank. I was planning on moving her into a breeder cage today, but i guess I was a day too late. I only saw 2 fry hiding in the java fern in the back right corner so I'm assuming the the others got eaten or were sucked up by the filter....

I tried looking for those 2 fry just now and I can't find them. Guess I gotta wait another month..

Some news:

Brown algae issue. Got 2 otos.. hopefully they'll clean it up.

Added 4 Betta Simplex. This should be an interesting breeding experiment.

Amazon frogbit seems very invasive.

I found mini pellia growing out of my fissidens. I never purchased mini pellia before.

The Betta Simplex killed 3 of my 4 tiger endlers. The last one survives because she is the same size as they are. Hopefully she has some sperm stored in her and can drop more fry in another month.

A lot of growth since last picture. CO2 is dead and can't be refilled till either wednesday or friday.

How did you attach the mosses? You obviously have a good method.
