Hi

I was wondering if I had enough substrate in my 29 gallon...I have 100% flourite and it stands 2.5 inches from my tanks bottom. Too little for a planted tank? I was going to buy another bag...
Thankyas

I started out with 2 1/2" and found it hard to keep some plants rooted. Another bag would definitely make it easier. Better to get it over with now, and get the cloudiness away, then to want to add it later, when there are tons of plants in the tank already.

I definately agree with GulfCoast. You could do fine with 2.5 inches however once plants start to get really rooted they may need a deeper substrate. Some might struggle to get rooted in a thin substrate like that.

Plus with the mess the flourite makes when you add it to a tank it is definately adding it now!

Ok

I added more flourite yesterday and the level of it is now about 3-4 inches. Looks like a lot but that is what everyone on this board told me :hehe:

thanks everyone, because I would of added the other stuff then would of had to take it all out to add more so thank you!

Kit

P.S.... oh and when I have a camera, I'll post a pic in the photo album.

Can't wait to see the pictures! It does look awkward at first having a thick gravel bed, but after a while, it actually looks unusual to see a tank with a "thin" bed of only 2 inches!
