Stores for rock?
I'm looking for some local stores for buying rocks about 30lbs each. Not looking for slate. Went up to Charlottesville and hauled a 43lb rock down a mountain yesterday only to much of my dismay to not find any more stone that appears to be the same colours in stores locally. I live in the mountains 35 miles N of Cville and have huge amounts of rock you are welcome to take. It is the same or similar as the stuff in your pics containing quartz. Color depends on whether it has been weathered. Since this is my first post am not sure how one does a pm but that's the way to get me...rocks range from 10 tons or so to sand grain size.

I found a lot of rocks at a local tree/landscaping business. I took home about 60lbs of lava rock and they had to have at least 20 types of rocks.
