I've never been to Hoffer's. Do they have plants? *hopeful spark in eyes*

Hey there, moved from Chicago to Milwaukee due to a job. Living on the lower east side. Reading through this thread, it seems that Hoffer's is THE lfs for Milwaukee more or less. I'll have to check it out this weekend.

Ok, so I visited Hoffer over the weekend and all I have to say is that place is amazing. It's the biggest LFS I've ever been too.

The prices on their hardware is a bit on the high side (they were selling emperor 400's for $75, on sale from the retail price of something over $100). They have lots of plants, wasn't really paying attention much to what kind since I was there browsing for livestock (specifically shrimp). I ended up getting some "hong kong shrimp" which I think is basically some wild RCS that aren't red. I was also looking for regulators and/or CO2 kits. All they had for that was the new Fluval ones, and some of the yeast based ones. I'll come back there again and maybe this time I'll pay attention more to their plant selections. Either way, it's a fun trip.

Wisconsin rules...not sad at all that the horses were snowed in with some 3-5ft drifts this morning. That was a crazy sight to see.

Now everything is all clear and pretty. Mother nature is pretending as if she was behaving all along.

Yeah mother nature can bite me, LOL... I have a feeling we are in for an interesting year. Although, mother nature did do one thing right, and took out the Humpty Dump in Minnesota.

Will work for shrimpz.......

Is anybody a member of any clubs? GBAS? It would also be cool to start a planted club in the fox valley area. FVAGA - or Fox Valley Aquatic Gardeners Association. But I think we lack the numbers to make it a success...

If perhaps, we didn't make it just a region, but a statewide club, we'd have numbers. I'll be one.

http://fins.actwin.com/dir/clubs.php?c=1&r=54 Found this old page, take it for what it's worth. I see there's a FV one. And a Milwaukee one, whose web address is now different. With some digging, hopefully we find something that's not all dead?

The Green Bay area has a fish club, but from my understanding they are all cichlid and reef junkys. I will still join though.

I was just thinking of a plant only club. I couldn't start it, but someone else sure could. I know the Madison has one. And I think Milwaukee. Not sure though...

Among all reef and cichlids people, there surely must be one plant person lurking?

Madison, no clue. As for Milwaukee, I'm not sure either. For now, this is perhaps all the club we have? Just a stray thought: It's not too hard to design a site, and meet in homes. Recruit by flyers in fish stores, and a post or two on here, and other sites. A LFS too, would be likely happy to host. Customers, you know. I think they are enough people with plants here to make it happen. Just ramblings....

Good ideas. A cheap site we could go thru would be blogger. Just setup a little blog and see what happens.

By the way, if any body wants some free breeding cories and a couple neons, PM me!
