Suggestions for Aquariums in New York

I will be in New York City this weekend and would like to visit at least one aquarium. Which one should I go to, or will have the most freshwater set-ups? Please let me know, thanks!

More so Public Aquariums, since I'm going with my girlfriend and her friends (they're all not that into fish), but would take suggestions for stores too, maybe I can get away if they want girl/shopping time.

The New York Aquarium in Coney Island. It's convenient to get to. There's also one far out in Long Island but I don't know the name of the place.

The one on LI is Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead, probably close to 2hrs from Manhattan. Nice place to hang you, but not much fresh water. I think they do have an Amazon type exhibit.

Thanks for the tips. I'm mostly into freshwater, and a biotope exhibit would be nice. Marine tanks are cool, but I only like the reef/coral.

The New York Aquarium will probably do, maybe we'll have time for rides and food at Coney Island too.

Any other suggestions for what to do there (can be non-aquarium related) would be great. I'm going with 3 girls, so shopping is probably all they will want to do.

If your into coral reefs, I believe Atlantis has one of the largest coral reef displays in the world, but if your staying in or close to Manhattan it's much easier to get to The NY Aquarium. Altantis also has Splish Splash very close by.

Thanks for the suggestions, I didn't get a chance to check out the aquarium, but did stop by Win for some Sakura Shrimp (labeled on the tank). Neat store with lots of fish. There was also a store a few doors down from Win that had some nice discus and flowerhorns.

Also went down to Baltimore and did stop at the National Aquarium there.

IMO,the NYC Aquarium sucks. Bronx Zoo, while not an aquarium, is much more worth the trip.

Not really impressed with the National Aquarium in Baltimore - this was my second time there. Wished I had time to check out NYC Aquarium. We spent a day in China Town shopping, night at Times Square; day at Central Park, then more shopping in SoHo and 5th Ave.

Win is pretty neat though, really digging the Sakura shrimp there, wish someone could ship me some!!
