bitFUUL's 50g Planted Tank - Plants, Plecos, and Snails!

Date reStarted: May 9, 2010
Tank: 50 Gallon
Filter: Eheim 2213 & Eheim HOB Liberty
Lighting: 1 Coralife 38" and 2 Hagen Life Glo 18"
Substrate: Seachem Black Onyx Sand
CO2: 2 x DIY with Powerhead Diffuser
Fertilizer: None
Rocks: Slate
Wood: Manzanita

This tank was just restarted from my other 50 gallon with frame problems. The other tank was only 4 months old, so the manufacturer sent me a new one. So the fish, plants, water, and filters (bacteria, etc) are all from my older tank; but the new tank now has the Manzanita, Slate, and Onyx sand as well. The process of migrating from one 50gal to the other took a total of 8 hours, I don't want to do it again if I can ever help it.

Old Tank

older tank in the back and the newer tank in the front.

4 days later plus a 30% water change

my only visual "issue" is the cut edges of the wood facing up. If both sides are cut, try adding some moss to the wood to soften and hide the cut edge so it doesn't look so unnatural. Also, alot of the wood is facing at the very same angle. Neat, if that's what you're going for, but it looks fairly unnatural to the eye, as that's very rarely found in nature.

(the only time it would be is if the sune were the most prevelant in that direction, but then the plants would be growing in the same direction and they're not)

I agree. It doesn't look real natural like that, but it still looks sweet!

This tank has been through a LOT! I'll upload as many pictures as I can find, then I'm breaking it down and selling it. Upgrade time!!!

Tank is drained. Although there aren't many photos posted, it was fun.
