eheim ecco 2234 or eheim 2213?? Ehiem experts please advise!!

I'm starting a new 17g tank soon and found a good deal on a used eheim ecco 2234. I'm debating if I should spend extra money for a brand new 2213 eheim classic or save money by getting the used eheim ecco 2234. Price difference between the two is $30.

IMO the 2234 is clearly the better filter... i have both filters you mentioned the ecco is more user friendly.

Please keep in mind with any ecco filter it takes patience to set up and perform to its max.
it may or may not be for you.

You can't go wrong with the 2213, its a true workhorse. However, I have an Ecco 2236 and it is also a great filter. Some people report problems with the Eccos but I have never had any. The priming handle on the Ecco helps but I find the 2213 easy to prime just as well.

My advice: if you want a little bit easier use, get the Ecco. If you want absolute reliability and dependability get the 2213. Both are great filters

thanks for the advice guys. I already have a eheim 2217 on my 40b and it works really well. It was my first canister filter and I must say it was a little hard to prime. I'll probably just pick up the 2213 when I have enough saved up LoL..

the easist way to prime a canister filter is to make sure there no water in it, put the out flow pipe in the tank and suck on the inflow side its super easy. fyi

I have a 2234. To me it does not even compare to the Classic line. For what little convenience you get from the self primer, you lose in the ability to store media, and the flow leaves a lot to be desired. I would get the 2213, or even a 2215.
