hi, i'm glen 68g

hi, i'm a regular on sfbaaps but i thought i'd branch out a bit more. anyway heres my new 68gallon rimless that i'm turning into a semi paludarium. I only plan to fill it 2/3rd of the way. at this point i'm dry starting the whole thing and playing around with growing different species emersed.

so far theres hc in between the cracks of that mountain there and dwarf hairgrass up front. I also have some naseae triflora and staurogyne growing really well. I'm also playing around with some blyxa, alteranthera reineckii, hygrophila araguia, ludwigia repens, and mini pellia.

heres a shot of my current 33 gallon tank in which i'm currently farming a few plants to get ready for the 68gallon.

took me a while to join but i'm here now and i'm hoping to gain alot.

a little too symmetrical for my taste, but you can throw that off by planting/trimming techniques. Paladariums are sure getting popular...

I think both tanks look great. I can't wait to see updates on the new tank.

thank you guys for the kind comments. it is a little more symmetrical than i'm used to scaping. I wanted to do a completely different route, that long tank used to have a crazy slope and scaped it heavily on the left. but after time i started to balance it out by adding some more rocks and the turface ended up flattening itself out also. i'm going for a more easy feeling scape. hopefully with the plants i can pull it off. anyways i took some legit pics. loving the criticism though, if i can find em useful keep em coming. the least it would do is get me to think about it.

i'm still up in the air as far as the plants and how i'm going to scape them, these are all just experimentation, fwiw blyxa doesn't like being emmersed. hence there are no pics.

fts

naseaa triflora

HC

purple bamboo

altheranthera reinekii

ludwigia repens

hygrophila araguaia

mini pellia

and lastly some mountain detail

sewingalot, thats so cool and it reminds me. my friend sent me this picture because it reminded him of my tank.

vadimshvchuck, its just a fishneedit 48" 2x54w t5ho. one generic pink bulb and the other is the GLO 6700k daylight.

heres an update: i added some more plants to the dry start because i had no more room for them in my 33 gallon long which i recently transformed into a farm for some newly acquired plants. i really want to keep the crypt mi oya, but i'm afraid it just might not work out for this tank as you can see in the 2 different spots i tried it out at. i also replaced the normal dwarf hairgrass with dwarf hairgrass 'belem' postponing the flood for quite awhile.

Its been a while since i've updated and a lot of plans changed along the way. I'm a newbie at the dslr so I apologize for the colors being so off, I don't know how to control it.

rotala hippurus?

Ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata 'Pantanal'

Polygonum sp. 'Kawagoeanum'?

Hyprohila 'Bold'?

one of my DIY acrylic pipes that i finally cleaned

Pinoy Blue Ghost angelfish

threadfin and cardinals

my newest discus, an albino cobalt throwback

my two favorites, Cobalt blue with the albino cobalt throwback. Thats actually not his color, its off. Hes more of a baby blue. :/

I was going through your beginning posts and was wondering what the final product of your original scape would be. I was super amazed at the update. The colors on it are so vibrant.

CrudeR and TankZen thank you so much for the compliments. It wasn't easy getting this far. Hopefully I can keep it going.

This is after a complete tear down and rescape. This is the best picture I have with the first hardscape. The water would never clear up and plants just kept going downhill.
