Algae Grower
|
Saw them at Home depot over the weekend.Off the top of my head the stats I believe were 65W,6500k and something like 8000 lumens. They also come in a very nice reflector. The cost was $29 thats why I'm curious about them.
I have a 20gal and I was thinking 2 of those would fit over my tank I think But does anyone know if it would be better than what I have now which is 2 OD 18" T8 bulbs wired in series. They are OD 4X but I never knew for sure what the actual wattage they are putting out is.I don't think it's as much as 130 watts though. Yes, I tried them. They are cheap garbage. The ballast won't last the life of the bulb. Lights of America will not answer your emails when there is a problem involved.
Don't waste your money. |

I've been using fluorex for months, I've had one go bad within 30 days, the rest are going strong. The one that went bad, HD replaced no problems, in fact the warranty states to take it back to the place of purchase for replacement during the warranty.
I have two of them on a 30 "cube" and quite frankly, it's never looked better, algae has absolutely not been a problem, the growth is outrageous in all the plants in the tank. I did gut them and retrofit them into a hood that gives good ventilation to the ballast, as far as I can tell that's why they have a failure problem, especially in an aquarium app. I think you should take a second look at them.
