Hey All,

Here's just a bunch of photos from some of my tanks. All comments welcome. I've been wicked busy so I really haven't had much time to tend to my tanks as much as I would like to. I'm currently working on a 38g lazy man planted tank project with just light, co2, fish, food and patience. Anyway, here dey r:


























I found some driftwood in the Berkshires mountains and thought I'd change my layout. I just jammed this stuff in the tank today. Still waiting for the wood to get water logged, so it's kind of balancing right now. Replanted the Hemianthus Micranthemoides and some Heternathera Zosterifolia. So I guess this is just a rough idea of what I would like it to look like with the new wood.











Anyway...I guess we'll see what happens. It's going to take some time to fill in again, and if I stopped slacking so much, I would build a canopy and up my reflectors a bit and start dosing more, but trying the old co2, h2o, light, fish and food method to see what I can get cooking. Probably going to let this new layout take shape for a couple months or so...maybe sew some java moss to the wood..Who knows.....:P

Good stuff man. I also love "branchy" driftwood.. been lookin' around all rivers and creeks here but I can't find any that meet my needs... and the LFS sells them at bogus prices, argh!

Yo momo,

Thanks. I've been so busy I haven't had time to really focus in on my tanks, but I dig the way the driftwood looks. I cut a bunch of my hemianthus and planted it around the base of the wood, hopefully to give it a sort of cushion. I've replanted some heternanthera zosterifolia at the very back so hopefully it will climb over the wood in the middle and drape over the java ferns in the front. The E. Tenellus is growing, but not as fast as it used to in my 29. I have the same lights over it as were in the 29 so they are staggered and the E. Tenellus probably doesn't get the amount of light it deserves...or nutrients as well. Anyway. Thanks for your comments everyone.

Holy crap, each and every one of those tanks are nearly perfect! I love the shapes, how it's not fully planted and some have slopes!

Thats a great find you got there , nice pieces of wood. My favorite spots are lettin me down but Im a persistant one... LOL
When all that grows in it will be a trophy tank, it has a nice shape to it.

Very nice dude. Your so lucky to have tanks like that. I'm trying those simple nothing to do to planted tanks and its doing ok except I have to much algae for my snails to eat lol.

Also, I am new to planted tanks, so someone please explain what makes a tank "perfect". I agree that Fat Guy's tanks are all awesome, but I have no idea of how to tell if they are perfect...

Thanks for the feedback all. I just bought a cheap powerhead and installed it. Hopefully the water movement will clear up the right corner of the tank that is kind of stangnant. I just added 6 more phantom tetras...I've got like 13 red phantoms in there now so it looks pretty cool with them schooling through the wood. I wish I had an eheim!!! My tanks a mess now. When I installed the powerhead I knocked the wood loose. I know how I want it to look so I'm just waiting for it to soak more before I jam it back in the substrate. My plants hemianthus is still shocked a little from being completely pulled and replanted. It's a hardy plant. The Zosterifolia could care less where it is in my tank. It just grows...planted or unplanted

I was fortunate to find the wood. Don't tell the beaver whose damn it was near. It wasn't part of his damn but was lodged under this rock in the river. I don't think he'll mind. The coolest plant that was growing under all of the Hemianthus has got to be the Java Fern at the front of the tank. It just took off. I'm still constantly battling BBA, but hopefully the powerhead will change it's element a little bit. It grows more in the corner of the tank away from the filter and where there is minimal water movement. I've never used a powerhead in a planted tank? Any pros, cons? I haven't found any cons yet. Water circulation is good and there's no additional surface agitation other than the sloppy tetratech that I had to tweak in order to make it stop bubbling.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I'm looking forward to the wood sinking so I can replant my hemianthus and heternanthera more strategically.
