Does priority mail count the day you ship as one of the three?

Does anyone know if priority mail counts the day you ship as one of the 2-3 if you get it to the PO in the early morning?
I had shrimp shipped Monday morning and they didn't come today, which surprises me because every other time I get a priority shipment sent on Monday it comes on Wednesday? Or am I just lucky and get it in "2" days most of the time?
thanks!

The day you ship I don't think is counted. I usually get my things on the 2nd day as well, such as things being shipped on Mon, I get on Wed. However, sometimes they will get delayed even past 3 days.

Nope, Here is how my packages currently come in:

Shipped Monday arrive Thursday
Shipped Tuesday arrive Friday
Shipped Wednesday arrive Saturday
Shipped Thursday or Friday arrive Monday
Shipped Saturday arrive Tuesday/ Wednesday

It sucks I remember when Priority was super fast on getting here. The worst part is rates keep going up.

The day you ship does not count. With most average size and smaller post offices, there is only one truck out a day to the main sorting facility and it leaves the post office at 5:00 PM every night. So for those post offices it does not matter whether you get the package to the post office early or late in the day. For larger post offices, like the one across the street from where I work, it services such a huge population that they send two trucks every day to the main sorting facility. One truck leaves at 1:00 PM and the other at 5:00 PM. I always try to make the 1:00 truck only because they will get sorted at the main facility a bit earlier than the mass of 5:00 trucks headed there. But then from the sort facility, no matter what time they arrived that day, I believe they all head to their respective airports for the same flights regardless of what time of the day they get taken to the post office. In Newark, NJ, where my boxes head for planes, those planes leave the same time every night.......somewhere around 10-11 PM. So the first day you take them and mail them is a sorting and routing day.

The post office is taking longer to deliver some packages. They've cut back on staff and reduced all overtime hours and some regular hours a long time ago. I can't wait until they stop Saturday delivery

It doesn't matter what time you get the mail to the post office. It doesn't move till the end of the day.

I'd guess 90% of the Priority I send gets delivered on the third day.
Ship day • transport day • delivery day.

Doesn't seem to matter how far it's going unless it's less than 100 miles then it's next day delivery.

Priority does seem to be getting slower, hopefully when they quit on Saturday it will make the other days more realiable

That depends on your P.O.

Most have 5 pm collection times, but if it's a main P.O., it'll often process 2, maybe 3 times a day.

When I lived close to a main P.O., I could drop it in the mail 9 am on Monday, and it would arrive Wednesday no problem. I had some priority shipments arrive next day, as in Tuesday.

Priority mail is 2-3 days. The 3 usually falls to cities farther outside of transport regions. Often times priority mail is shipped by plane to the receiving market then by truck out.
