Algae Grower

Can I use "Algae fix" to get rid of Green water?
I am going to bite the bullet and get myself an UV Sterilizer... However, in the mean time, can I use chemicals to get rid of Green water?
What would be the downside to this? Biological imbalance? Kill off beneficial bacteria? I'm tired of not being able to see my fish... Thanks |

Chemical algae removers usually contain copper. This will kill off most (if not all) plant life, and may also harm/kill your fish. The levels of copper in these kinds of products are also toxic to invertebrates (shrimp, snails, etc).
