Driftwood on Craigslist

Has anyone ever bought driftwood on craigslist in Olympia specifically from a guy name Sam?

I took a drive down and he has A LOT of nice wood pieces but was wondering what kind of wood it was.... I'm so new to this.

Reason I ask is because he wasn't there today so his wife and daughter gave me all the pieces I wanted for free. BUT they never told me what kind of wood it was.

Do you have any pictures? I would definitely boil it before adding it to a tank, just in case. Are they selling it as aquarium driftwood and are they using it in their own aquariums?

His daughter mentioned that he kept them in his tank. When I was emailing him he told me that he gets them from a nearby lake. I will take pictures of them as soon as I can. Maybe I can give you a link to craigslist but I'm not sure if we can on this forum. I'll read the rules

Wow, those pieces are huge! Just out of curiosity, what size tank are these going into? I'm not exactly sure what type of wood it is but it looks pretty standard. The third picture looks like that piece might breakdown pretty quickly in your tank, just because it looks like it's already a little crumbly in a few places but, maybe that's just the picture. I think as long as you boil the stuff, you'll be fine. Nice find!

yeah I was thinking the same thing, the piece is pretty cool though because it has hiding places for my fishes.

They're going to be distributed between my 3 tanks. The very large ones are going into my 125 and the rest either the 20 long or 15 high depending if they fit.

If you got the time you should drive down to olympia. The guy has a backyard full of xxl driftwood. He said he'll sell them for $10-$15 depending on the size. I think his ad is still on craigslist.
