Here's how things are going.
removed larger adult territorial Chineese AE, added 2 more SAEs Added more Ludwigia repens. I keep changing up my lighting in hopes that I can keep some of this algae under control. I've done 2x 20% water changes. Right now my lighting is 76W (2x 14w 3000k, 1x 24W 5000k, 1x 24W 6500k) run for 6hrs/day. I've got what looks like roots growing off the leaves of one of my Java ferns. I'm not sure if it's some product of the BBA that appears to be there or if it's making up for some nutrient deficiency. Has anyone seen this before? So, other than the algae the plants and fish are looking very healthy ![]() Until next time... Last edited by dphanks; 03-01-2010 at 02:55 PM.. I would get rid of the goldfish! They make a mess and clash with the other tropical fish. Just a suggestion. Of course, I guess I'm a little bias. I don't like 'em at all. Haha. Looking good beside that though!
Also the black background is much nicer than the original blue!

I'm not really a fan of the goldfish either. They're destructive and nibble on my plants. My roommate has named them all though and I believe he's a little attached. If only.... |

The roots on the top of the Java fern might be new plantlets, I cannot quite tell from the photo.
Love your wood. |

It's been awhile. I've started what's going to be a moss wall about a month ago. It's coming in very slooooooowly. You can see two different types of walls. The one on the right is a sandwich of the green mesh found at Michael's. The left wall which is a little more obvisous has a light plastic net around one green mesh. In the end I have a feeling they'll look pretty similar.
Some fished were moved around and added. Tank totals are 2 ghost shrimp 2 sunkist shrimp 1 bamboo shrimp (new) 2 gourami 2 goldfish 8 neons (added 3) 2 Siamese algae eaters ![]() ![]()

added a tiger loach (see there at the bottom), a Cardinal Tetra, a Pleco, and a circulation fan.
Opaline Gourami had enough of being tortured and threw in the towel. Here's the current tally: 2 ghost shrimp 2 sunkist shrimp 1 bamboo shrimp 1 Golden gourami 2 goldfish 7 neons 1 Siamese algae eaters (these guys kept getting caught in my net for the fern. One of them eventually killed himself.) 1 tiger loach (to combat the snail problem) 1 Spotted Pleco I'm a little worried this cardinal tetra's gonna chase the neon's all day.
