LFS in Reno
For you local Reno peoples, do you think there is enough demand in town to support a LFS?

Sure would be nice if we had one. All that there we have is a few of the box stores.

The big box stores here have the worst quality I've ever seen. At both Petsmart and Petco I've seen them sell sick fish out of tank full of disease. Pet Superstore doesn't seem as bad, but they have nothing for selection.

I've talked to a few people I've met through craigslist about starting a club. It would be fun to meet once a month to trade or auction plants and fish. Would you guys be interested in something like that?

Reno now has a pretty good aquatic store in the Cosco shopping center. It's called sierra aquatics they just expand a bit since they opened. They were a reptile and fish only. Now they have fury pets too and parrots. I'm not a fan of them selling parrots oh well.

The one on Plumb. It's been open like 5 months now I think. Sierra aquatics it is called.
If you are in the area it is worth checking out. I hate the fish room. The tanks are up so high you can't see the fish well in them unless you are really tall. I had to jump to look in. Besides that it's nice.

Hey! ive discovered my new favorite store in Reno/Sparks. Its called oasis pond maintenance & supply its on glendale. they specialize in ponds but are experts and have everything from reef tanks to planted discus knowledge. They have the best stock of plants and healthiest fish i have seen. Far better service than Sierra Aquatics!

Oasis is nice, I've only been there once looking for feeder guppies. But I lost interest in Sierra the last time I went and they had a capybara for sale. Its turning into a regular pet store.

Reno also doesn't have any good exotic vets that I'm aware of to support these animals. |
