An IE question
I have a question for all of the computer people out there.
Why is it that when I add a website to my IE "Favorites" or "Links", I have a neat little custom icon along with the website in said folders for a few days, and then the icon disappears after that? Mike

That's a good question and I bet it has to do with the fact that the icon is actually stored in your IE cache.
BTW. Have you checked out Maxthon? It's a wrapper for IE that actually makes IE work. Too bad M$ couldn't do it on their own. |

I've heard lots of raves about Firefox. Opera is decent, but there are limitations to it also.
As for the icon, it's due to the browser cache being cleared or a number of other reasons. Here's a thread on it which addresses this and ways around it: http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforum...ead.php?t=5002 |

I like Mozilla. Easy popup blocking, selective image non-loading (ie. advertisers), really easy-to-use cookie controls, a zillion easy plugins for whatever annoys you (I love the plugin that prevents flash movies from going until YOU click the little arrow). And I've never gotten an email virus or any spyware....

I have used Mozilla and FireFox. But I still like Maxthon the most. It's faster in every aspect of operation, and just as versatile as either of the other two.
Check it out at http://maxthon.com/en/index.htm and if you don't like it you are out nothing. In fact I would be lost without Maxthon and IESpell. |

I'm not going to say I told you so
Maxthon is a great solution. I got turned on to it when it was called MyIE2 and the feature I really wanted was that it solved the IP spoofing that IE still has problems with. That's the problem where if you hover your pointer over a link IE can show something other than the true address. It's a technique used by phishers. I have to admit that I have been using computers for right around 20 years now. I have always been on the hunt for elegant solutions to common problems. Some of the utilities I use on a daily basis are these: Turbolaunch http://www.savardsoftware.com/turbolaunch/ IESpell http://www.iespell.com And of course the file manager that makes life worth living (did I say I'm a file hog? I can DL right around 13 gigs in a day and do so on a regular basis. Without a decent file manager I would be lost). Directory Opus http://www.gpsoft.com.au/ |

IE Spell is the best! That was one of the best tips you have ever passed out Rex!
I would like to try Maxthon. Will it uninstall if I don't like it? Mike

It should, but if it doesn't, you can always restore to the previous day's config/setup.
