I'm starting the move to Jupiter this Friday and I am hoping someone can give me the scoop on the area per planted tanks.
Best place for CO2 refills/exchanges?
Fish stores?
What's the water like? I see that the water utility mixes RO water? I keep soft water critters so I'm somewhat hopeful the tap water might be softer than the stuff we normally get in Florida.
I'm gonna answer my own post in case someone else is curious.
I'm thinking about getting into brewing a little in addition to planted tanks so I went ahead and got a lab report on the water. Results:
pH 7.8
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Est, ppm 278
Electrical Conductivity, mmho/cm 0.46
Cations / Anions, me/L 3.6 / 4.5
ppm:
Sodium, Na 41
Potassium, K 2
Calcium, Ca 34
Magnesium, Mg 1
Total Hardness, CaCO3 89
Nitrate, NO3-N 0.7
Sulfate, SO4-S 3
Chloride, Cl 79
Carbonate, CO3 < 1.0
Bicarbonate, HCO3 124
Total Alkalinity, CaCO3 103
Total Phosphorus, P 0.09
Total Iron, Fe 0.02
So rounded to 2 dGH and 6 dKH. Will need to dose Mg or a GH Booster after water changes.
I ended up just going to Airgas down i-95. Was more pricey than I'm used to though. $34 for a 20# swap. Guy was friendly and the swap was fast though.
Have not found a LFS outside of the chains and salt water shops.
I use Cintas here in Jacksonville for CO2 tank refills: 20lb. tank for $12.50. The down side is that it takes them a couple of days to do it, so I have 2 tanks. They have locations in Deerfield Beach and West Palm, if either are near you.
