Is it a good idea to attach driftwood to slate?

I know some people do this, but I was wondering if it was a good idea to do this in a nano aquarium. The whole tank will be moved around every now and then, and I don't really want to go through the process of soaking the driftwood every time it's moved (it's not heavy enough to sink naturally). Any tips?

Tom Barr will recommend drilling and screwing it to slate. I do this too. It works very well. Just be sure to use stainless screws so they don't rust out.

I have hard water and use lots of limestone but any weight will do. Sometimes it is a matter of how hard the rock is too drill. Limestone is soft but some object to the alkaline nature. If you want an inert weight, drilling holes and filling them with lead shot will do it for lots of driftwood items. Lead sinkers are also a handy item. Lead sinkers with the metal rings are handy to line up on a plastic tie fed through holes drilled on the bottom or back of wood.
