Lisa's 75g Dream tank

Ok, so maybe not the dream yet but it will be.

I just got the tank from another forum member. I have always wanted a 75 gallon and it's about as big as I can go without having something custom done because I am short and with that I have short arms lol

This tank will definitely be a work in progress, between the crappy economy and my husband going back to school there isn't much room for fish stuff in our budget but it will eventually be a high tech tank.

I am normally the type of person not to post anything until what I am doing is perfect but with so many factors I feel like this project should really have it's own journal right from the get-go.

At this point, the tank has been set up just over 24 hours. Last night it looked like black coffee so it's really come a long way (hints the large amount of filtration) Everything I have is a mix of what I have gotten here and there, and what the guy who I got the tank from had. It's quite interesting, hope you all enjoy!

Specs:
Lighting- T5HO 6500k x3

Substrate- Currently 80lbs. Amazonia which is breaking down too much and will be capped with 60-80lbs. of Eco-complete.

Filtration: Aquaclear 110, Emperor 400, and Sponge rated for 40 gallons. -Canisters eventually

Co2: Eventually a Aquatek regulator for co2.

Flora: Crypts, grass, bacopa, ludwigia etc. -will update better later when all of the plants can be identified.

Fauna: 3 angelfish, 7 rainbows, 1 plakat betta, 7 platys, 3 scarlet badis, 2 ottos, 2 nerites, and 1 lonely ghost shrimp that lives through anything.

After a few days the tank is beginning to really clear up, and the fish are happy.

Got 3 more ottos. Love to see them group up like this.

Now for the fun part: Trying to replant my plants without disturbing the substrate too much.

Not too shabby there, Lisa!! Considering your circumstances, I'd say that you are doing really well!

Just give it some time to grow out and fill in and just take things at a slow pace. Very colorful platys (and others)!
