Hello, I'm in the process of planning a 90 gallon project and finding companies that ship to Canada is driving me nuts. It seems 80% (come on, prove me wrong) of companies can't or won't ship to Canada for a variety of reasons.
So, if you've used a mail order/internet company to ship to Canada please respond. I'll compile the list and any comments you have. Please provide:
1. Internet address
2. Company Name
3. Items purchased
4. Positive notes
5. Negative notes
6. Overall satisfaction rating (1-5)
I've had things shipped from the states (not just aquarium supplies) and the problem is that they often charge an extra fee for international shipping or simply over-inflate the shipping, plus you have to pay duty and sometimes a brokerage fee (if it comes other than by Post). AND sometimes the item gets held up at customs for a long time.
It's hardly worth it, better to find places like those listed above that ship from within Canada, even if the postage seems higher than US companys charge.
I've been happy with plants from Aquariumplants.com, and with orders from Big Al's, Pets & Ponds and MOPS:Aquarium Supplies Category List
www.aquatropique.com its in french but as long as you know latin names and a bit of french for your adress or you can use a translator. they are located i believe in montreal.
wanted to add aquaspot not that i have had any luck with them i was very disapointed and lost alot of money but never the less they do ship to canada and hopefully wont mess any more orders up.
http://www.aqua-digital.com/, based in Canada, deals in digital testing & monitoing equipment
Aqua Digital INC.
Bought a couple of PH monitors, good price, good products, very good customer service, will deal with them again.
Regards
This one is Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and is absolutely terrific to deal with ... I mail order from them several times already (and I'm only 1 hour away)
checked out their site, they're charging $60 shipping plus tax&duty for $15 worth of plants.
not worth it at all, and i've ordered from them in the past without these ridiculous shipping costs. i'll be looking around town for now unless there's a more reasonable option.
Anyone ever use this company, based in Toronto. They have a great select and carry a lot of ADA or ADA like products, prices seem good too. http://www.aquainspiration.com/default.asp

He's running a bit busier these days if anyone wants to order plants from him, reason being is that he now runs an actual store that has a ton of great stock.
