Stocking a 50g?

Got a 50 cycling right now. Inhabitants are 5 lemon tetras, 5 panda cories, and a male boesemani rainbow. Was thinking just 2 or 3 female boesemani's but looking for any other comments or suggestions.

i'm pretty sure boesmanis are best in schools of 6+, and i know lemon tetras and panda cories are too. what's your filtration?

Cat is right, boesemani's should be kept in a shoal of at least 6. Your corys and tetras would be ok as 5, but as seeing as you have plenty of room, you could get 2-3 more of each. I think this would be good:

7-8 Lemon Tetra
7-8 Panda Cory
6-8 Boesemani Rainbows

Edit: Fish-In cycle... :O

It's an Aquatop CF-500uv. I've had the 400 on my 40 and it's just great!

What kind of male to female ratio for the boesemanis?

You have just enough filtration, 50g's should get about 500g/hr and the CF500 is a 525g/hr if I remember correctly.

The ratio is usually something like 1M:2F, so something like 2M 4F would be just fine

However, you should wait until your tank has finished cycling before adding any more fish as the cycling process can be harmful and even toxic to the fish.

If you can't wait, you can buy Tetra SafeStart which adds the correct bacteria to the tank. But even then, be sure to check your water parameters and confirm that the tank has indeed finished cycling before adding new fish.

Ya the tank was filled a week ago and the filter media came out of my old cf-400. Shouldn't take too long and there's no rush. Everybody's got a home already and we're just upgrading.

I guess i wasn't too clear in the original post. All these fish are in my 40 hex right now. The 50g i recently found on the side of the road in a trash pile. I took it home, cleaned it up, leak tested it, built a stand and it's cycling with NO fish in it. Whoops lol.

My boesemani had 3 females and they mysteriously died along with a couple of tetras and my pleco. I took apart my filter and cleaned it and the tank has been fine since.

With the tank, there was a couple buckets with old filters and parts and about two dozen UG filter plates. I've assembled 1 functioning hob filter and 2 functioning biowheels from those parts. Think i should run a biowheel on it as well?

Only if you want more filtration. Personally, I think you are good. Just use some good quality sponges, 2 baskets of high surface area bio media and some purigen and you'll be good to go.
